Delnor Hospital: Quality. Defined.

Delnor Hospital provides comprehensive medical care for the community and is a leader in clinical quality, patient-centered care and patient and physician satisfaction.

The 159-bed, acute care hospital is among just six percent of hospitals in the nation to achieve the Magnet designation, the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s highest honor for nursing excellence. Delnor is also the first hospital in Illinois to be designated a Planetree hospital for achieving excellence in patient-centered care. Planetree is an internationally renowned organization dedicated to promoting hospital environments that personalize the health care experience, treat patients as active participants in their care, and focus on healing of the mind, body and spirit.

Delnor’s inpatient addition features spacious private rooms, natural lighting and a home-like atmosphere. It also features comfortable lounges and common areas for patients and their families to enjoy during their stay.

As a Level II Trauma Center and Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics, Delnor’s Emergency Department (ED) offers the expertise and resources to treat people of all ages with severe or life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The ED offers all private rooms including 19 standard care rooms, two trauma rooms and six ERexpress rooms for less severe emergencies. Connected directly to the ED is Delnor’s dedicated Cardiac Catheterization Lab, which uses the latest technology to help physicians evaluate and treat critical cardiac blockages fast and accurately while exposing patients to less radiation.

Delnor’s NewLife® Maternity Center provides families with a private suite offering all the amenities of a fine hotel. The Level II with Extended Capabilities Nursery is equipped to care for low birth weight infants, premature infants, and infants on ventilators. Delnor’s neonatalogists are available 24 hours a day. The center also offers maternal-fetal medicine services for women experiencing high risk pregnancies including multiple births, and 24 hour obstetric physician coverage in the event of an emergency.

The hospital’s beautifully-appointed Center for Breast Health offers digital mammography, the most technologically advanced equipment for the early detection of breast abnormalities. For the woman needing a diagnostic mammogram, Delnor offers a dedicated radiologist who will read the mammogram immediately. The patient will know the results before she leaves the center.

Surgical patients are benefitting from a new da Vinci robotic surgery system at Delnor. The system provides a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery for those requiring hysterectomies, prostatectomies and other procedures. It enables doctors to perform these delicate surgeries with the utmost precision.

The hospital operates Delnor Express Care centers in Batavia and South Elgin to provide fast and convenient immediate care services for the community.

The Delnor Medical Staff features more than 400 physicians in 80 specialties and sub-specialties. For a doctor referral, contact the Physician Finder service at 630-208-3993 or visit delnor.com/physicianfinder.

Delnor Hospital is part of Delnor Health System, which provides a broad range of health care and wellness services for the community. Other components of the system include the Delnor Health & Wellness Center, the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, and Delnor Glen Senior Living.

Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center

Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center (VASC) is uniquely qualified to address the needs of its patients. VASC has over 150 area surgeons on staff and furnishes surgical services for more than 1,000 different procedures for both outpatient and more complex surgeries, which require a stay at Valley Medical Inn. VASC provides surgical services in Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Ear/Nose/Throat, General Surgery, Podiatry, Urology, Pediatric Surgery, Gastroenterology, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Oral Surgery and Dentistry.

Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) provide innovative, high-quality, patient-centered care and create a significant savings for patients and the health care system. Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center recognizes the financial hardship an unexpected surgical procedure can put on a patient. They are committed to educating patients and helping them navigate through the complex insurance side of health care. Patients are given an estimate of out of pocket costs before their surgical procedures and informed of the options that are available to them before they make a decision.

Valley Medical Inn, a post-surgical recovery care center adjacent to Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center, was opened in 1997. This nine-bed facility offers an alternative to hospitalization for patients needing additional time to recover from surgery. Stays can be as short as 23 hours or as long as 72 hours. The “Bed and Breakfast” atmosphere of VMI provides the patient with the best quality medical care in a more relaxed environment.

Private nursing care, catered meals, and hotel quality amenities serve to reduce the patient’s stress and speed recovery. And with a post-op infection rate of less than 0.1%, VMI is often the preferred choice for surgeons. “Because my patients aren’t exposed to infected non-surgical patients, post-op infections and complications are much lower compared to hospital-based surgeries,” says Dr. Christopher Michael, gynecologist. “My patients check in healthy and leave healthy.”
